Why Choose Us?

  • Licensed and insured in New Jersey. NJ HIC 13VH08721900 and NJ Plumbers LIC 1289700.
  • Sized properly, not guessed. We work out your real peak hot water demand before we quote, because an undersized unit runs cold and an oversized one costs more than it needs to.
  • Gas, venting and water lines handled in house. A tankless swap is rarely just the unit, and we are a plumbing and heating company, so the gas line and venting are not a subcontractor’s problem.
  • 24 hour emergency service. If your hot water fails, you are not waiting for Monday.
  • Financing available on installations.

Tankless Installation Done Right

Your plumbing and heating company in Monmouth & Ocean County, NJ.

A tankless water heater heats water as it flows, so there is no tank sitting in your basement keeping 50 gallons warm around the clock. Done properly it means hot water that does not run out and a unit that takes up a fraction of the space. Done badly it means lukewarm showers, a unit that short cycles, and a gas line that cannot feed it.

AME Plumbing Heating and Cooling installs tankless systems across Monmouth and Ocean County, and we size, vent and gas-feed them as one job rather than three.

What You Gain

Why Homeowners Switch

What a properly installed tankless system actually changes.

  • Hot water that does not run out, however many showers run back to back.
  • No standby loss, because nothing is being kept hot while you are at work or asleep.
  • Floor space back, since a wall-mounted unit replaces a tank.
  • A longer service life than a standard tank, provided it is descaled on schedule.
  • No tank to fail, which is the failure that floods a finished basement.

Is Tankless Right For You?

An honest answer before you spend the money.

Tankless is not automatically the right call, and we would rather tell you that before the install than after. It makes the most sense when your household runs hot water in long or overlapping stretches, when you want the floor space back, or when a tank has failed and you are replacing anyway.

It makes less sense if your gas service cannot support the demand without an upgrade, or if your hot water use is light and occasional. In older shore properties especially, the gas line and the venting route decide the job as much as the unit does. We look at those first and tell you plainly which way it falls.

Water Heater Services

Tank, tankless, repair and replacement.

We work on both kinds. If a tankless system is not the right fit for your home we will say so and fit a conventional tank properly instead. If your existing tankless unit is running cold, cycling or throwing an error code, we repair those too.

Our Process

How a Tankless Installation Runs

  • Sizing: we measure your peak demand, how many fixtures run at once and your incoming water temperature, and size the unit to that rather than to a brochure.
  • Gas and venting check: we confirm the gas line can carry the load and work out the venting route before anything is ordered.
  • Installation: unit mounted, water and gas connected, venting run, and the old tank removed and taken away.
  • Commissioning: we fire it, set the temperature, check the flow and walk you through the descaling schedule that keeps the warranty intact.

Sizing Is the Whole Job

The most common tankless complaint is an install problem, not a unit problem

When people say a tankless system disappointed them, it is usually one of three things: it was undersized for the house, the gas line could not feed it, or nobody ever descaled it. All three are decided at installation. That is why we spend the time on sizing and gas supply before we talk about models.

Complete Tankless Service

AME Plumbing Heating & Cooling: Installation, Repair and Maintenance

We cover the whole life of the system:

  • Tankless installation in new builds and as a replacement for a failed tank.
  • Gas line and venting work where the existing supply or route will not serve the unit.
  • Tankless repair for error codes, cold water sandwiching, low flow and ignition faults.
  • Descaling and maintenance, which in New Jersey water is what decides how long the unit lasts.
  • Conventional tanks when that is genuinely the better fit for the house.

What to Expect

From the first visit to endless hot water

The walkthrough. We look at your current setup, your gas meter and service, the venting options and where the unit can be mounted. We ask how your household actually uses hot water, because that is what sizes the unit.

The honest recommendation. You get a straight answer on whether tankless is worth it in your home, what the gas or venting work would involve, and what a conventional tank would cost instead.

The install. Usually a single day for a straightforward swap, longer if the gas line or venting needs work. The old tank goes with us.

Afterwards. We set the temperature with you, show you the maintenance the warranty expects, and you have our number for 24 hour emergency service if anything goes wrong.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I install a tankless water heater myself?

Not realistically, and not legally in most cases. A tankless install ties into your gas supply and needs its own venting, and in New Jersey that work requires a licensed plumber and usually a permit. A DIY tankless install is the one that ends up undersized, badly vented, or failing inspection when the house is sold.

Most homes with a decent gas service can run one, but the gas line is the thing to check. A tankless unit draws far more gas while it is firing than a tank does, so a line that was fine for the old heater may need upsizing. We check the meter and the run before quoting, so there is no surprise mid-install.

It depends on the unit, your gas and venting situation, and whether an old tank has to come out. We quote after we have looked, not before, and the estimate is free. Financing is available if you would rather spread it.

Usually scale. New Jersey water leaves mineral deposits inside the heat exchanger, and a unit that has never been descaled will start running cooler and eventually fault. Annual descaling is the single thing that keeps a tankless system performing and keeps most warranties valid.

Cold water sandwiching, where a burst of cold arrives between two hot stretches, is normal in a basic setup and fixable. It usually comes from short draws cycling the burner. The fix is either a recirculation setup or a small buffer tank, and we will tell you which your home needs.

Descale it once a year, keep the inlet filter clean, and do not ignore an error code. That is most of it. We offer maintenance visits and can do the descaling as part of a scheduled call.
